Introducing a New 3D Artist Sharing His Inspiring Creations

Kate
Hello everyone! Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to Rajesh, a talented 3D artist who has recently joined us to share his amazing work. I must say, I absolutely love his pieces, especially the beautiful 3D icons. They are simply stunning! Rajesh, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
Rajesh
Hey Kate, thanks a lot for the kind words! It's an honor to be here and share my work with this community. So, I'm Rajesh, and I'm from a city called Mysuru in southern India. It's known for its rich culture and history, and honestly, it's quite an inspiring place to grow up as an artist.
Kate
Mysuru sounds wonderful! I can imagine how a place like that could spark creativity. How long have you been working in 3D art?
Rajesh
I've been doing 3D art for about eight years now. I started when I was in college. Back then, I was actually studying engineering, but I quickly realized I was way more passionate about creating art than I was about circuits or programming. I picked up some 3D software, started experimenting, and from there, I just fell in love with it.
Kate
That’s so cool! Engineering to 3D art is quite a leap. What made you decide to focus on 3D specifically?
Rajesh
Yeah, it was a pretty big leap! But I think it was mostly because of how much I loved video games and animated movies when I was younger. I remember watching movies like "Toy Story" and playing games like "Prince of Persia" and being totally mesmerized by the worlds they created. I thought, "I want to do that too—I want to make something that brings people joy." The idea of building entire worlds and characters out of nothing, that’s what really drew me in.
Kate
That’s a great motivation. And it seems like you've really found your style. I have to say, your 3D icons are absolutely amazing—so clean and full of character. What inspired you to start creating icons specifically?
Rajesh
Thanks so much, Kate! It’s really nice to hear that. You know, I think it was partly because of how much I love simplicity. Icons are a way to take something complex and boil it down to its essence, right? They’re small, but they tell a story. Plus, I think icons are something people use every day without really noticing, and I wanted to make those everyday things more beautiful and fun.
Kate
I completely agree, there’s something so satisfying about a well-made icon. Do you have a particular process when you’re designing your pieces?
Rajesh
Yeah, I definitely have a process, though it’s always evolving. I usually start with a rough sketch, either on paper or digitally, just to get an idea of the form and proportions. Then I move into 3D software—usually Blender. I try to keep my shapes simple and clean, especially when making icons, because I want them to be easy to recognize at a glance. After that, I work on lighting and materials to give it that nice polished look.
Kate
Blender is such a powerful tool, isn't it? It’s amazing what people can create with it. Speaking of which, what’s been your favorite project so far?
Rajesh
Definitely! Blender is incredible, especially for being free software. As for my favorite project… I think it’s a series of 3D food icons I made last year. I had so much fun designing them—there was an ice cream cone, a burger, a slice of pizza, and some others. It was challenging because food has so many textures, but that’s what made it so rewarding. Plus, it made me hungry while working, which is always a good sign!
Kate
Haha, that’s hilarious! I bet they looked good enough to eat. So, what advice would you give to someone who’s just starting out with 3D art?
Rajesh
I’d say the most important thing is to be patient. When I started, my first models looked pretty awful, to be honest. It’s easy to get discouraged when you see all these incredible works online, but everyone starts somewhere. Practice every day, watch tutorials, and don’t be afraid to ask for feedback. The 3D art community is super friendly, and there’s always someone who’s willing to help you improve.
Kate
That’s really good advice. I think a lot of beginners need to hear that. Lastly, what do you hope to achieve as an artist in the future?
Rajesh
My biggest dream is to work on an animated movie or a video game, something that reaches a lot of people. I want to be part of a project that brings joy to others, just like those movies and games did for me when I was younger. And of course, I’d also love to keep sharing my work here and inspiring others to start their own creative journeys.
Kate
I love that! I’m sure you’re going to do amazing things, Rajesh. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us today. It’s been great getting to know you better!
Rajesh
Thanks, Kate! It’s been a pleasure talking to you. I’m really excited to be part of this community, and I can’t wait to share more of my work with everyone.
